If every time you insert a citation into Word using EndNote, an abbreviated citation in {curly brackets} is inserted, you need to turn Instant Formatting On. 

You can turn Instant Formating On by following these directions:

1. In Word, go to the EndNote tab.

2. In the Bibliography tool bar, click "Instant Formatting is Off"

3. "Turn Instant Formatting On"
