How do I access library resources?
If you are on a workstation at a UCHealth hospital, or on a mobile device connected to UCHealth wireless, you can access library resources without logging in. You can start either at the Strauss Library homepage or The Source (at the top of the page, go to Find Resources, click Apps, then scroll down and click on Medical Cybrary).
Why can't I access all of the library resources?
UCHealth pays to access a portion (but not all) of the library's electronic resources. University of Colorado Hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Memorial Hospital North, and Memorial Hospital Central have each decided which resources they pay for. If you try to access a resource but get an error message or a paywall, it is likely that your hospital does not pay for that resource.
How do I know whether or not my hospital pays for a certain resource?
When you get an error message or paywall, you can contact Strauss Library to see whether or not your hospital is supposed to have access or if it is due to a resource outage. You can also check the Databases A-Z list and filter by type, selecting either "UCH All Hospitals Access" (if you are at Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, or Memorial Hospital North or Central) or "UCH Metro Access" (if you are at University of Colorado Hospital), to determine if a resource is accessible to you; please note that this list will not include e-books or journals.
What if I need an article from a journal my hospital does not subscribe to?
For journals that your hospital does not subscribe to, you can request articles through Jerry Carlson, the UCHealth North and South librarian, using this Article Request Form. Contact Jerry for more information: Jerry.Carlson@uchealth.org, or 970-495-7770.
Can I access library resources at home or anywhere else remotely?
If you would like to access Strauss Health Sciences Library resources at home or anywhere else remotely, you will need to install Citrix (UCHealth VPN) on your computer. You do not need to use Citrix when you are at a UCHealth hospital; library resources can be accessed on hospital computers or devices on the UCHealth wireless network without needing to log in.
- To install Citrix on your computer:
- Go to The Source and click the red "New Employees" tile.
- Click the link labeled "Accessing UCHealth Websites from Home" and follow instructions for downloading Citrix Workspace and setting up DUO Security two-factor authentication.
- Restart your computer then proceed to the next steps.
- To access Strauss Library resources:
- Go to Citrix and sign in.
- Click Apps at the top of the page.
- Scroll down and click Google Chrome.*
- Copy and paste the library URL into the Google Chrome address bar: https://library.cuanschutz.edu/
*If Chrome does not open automatically, you may need to open it from your download files. If you are having difficulties at this step, open Common Troubleshooting Tips and go to the section on .ica file association.
What if I work at a UCHealth location other than University of Colorado Hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Memorial Hospital North, or Memorial Hospital Central?
Please note that the following UCHealth locations do not have library access, but staff members can contact Jerry Carlson, the UCHealth North and South librarian, to request journal articles (Jerry.Carlson@uchealth.org, or 970-495-7770):
- UCHealth outpatient clinics
- UCHealth hospitals other than University of Colorado Hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Memorial Hospital North, or Memorial Hospital Central
- The only exception is for the Ovid full text journals collection, which is also accessible at Broomfield Hospital, Grandview Hospital, Longs Peak Hospital, and Yampa Valley Medical Center
