What do I do if the Health Sciences Library does not own a book or journal article that I need?

You have several options to obtain materials not owned by the Health Sciences Library.

  1. If the item is not owned by Anschutz, you can search for it in Prospector. Prospector allows you to search the holdings of public and university libraries in Colorado. If you are a cardholder at any participating Prospector library, including the Health Sciences Library, you can request FREE book loans from Prospector libraries and the books will be delivered to the library for you to pick-up.
  2. Use the Health Sciences Library's Interlibrary Loan Service to request the item from another library. The ILL service has access to general national networks and can locate and request most items for you. For more information, see the Interlibrary Loan web pages. Interlibrary loan is free for most affiliated patrons. Here's a video that walks you through the steps to create an Interlibrary Loan Account.
  3. To suggest an item to be added to the library’s collection, please fill out a request form. This form can be submitted electronically, in person at the circulation desk, or sent to us via campus mail to Mail Stop A-003.

If you have any other questions about how to access materials, just AskUs using the tab on the right and we will be happy to help track it down for you.
