Question:
Public Patron Computer Stations
Details:
Answer:
Thank you for the following feedback! Responses follow line by line.
1. Upgrade the guest PC's to windows 10?
We expect to have Guest PCs upgraded to Windows 10 sometime this fall.
2. Have a few Mac's around for guest use.
Currently our Guest computer access program uses a time reservation program that only works on Windows. We do not currently plan to expand this program to include Macs, which would involve staff time to investigate a new system, as well as budget for both new hardware and new software.
3. Have some guest PC's in study rooms.
The grand majority of the academic community brings and uses their own laptops in the rooms. Those users (campus faculty and students) have so far not requested that the library outfit study rooms with computers. In addition, public guests are encouraged to study in open areas and tables. The study rooms are intended for Anschutz campus students, faculty and staff and other CU affiliates, but not the general public.
4. Have some "use your on PC" screens/keyboards available in study rooms.
We do provide LCD screens (TVs) in many of the group study rooms and meeting rooms. The Service Desk has one circulating wireless keyboard and mouse that can be checked out for use in the group study rooms. Also, some meeting rooms (reservable by campus faculty and students) have dedicated wireless keyboards and mice that can be checked out to go with those room reservations.
